The court arrested the former Minister of Economy of Kazakhstan Bishimbayev for two months

The Specialized Interdistrict Investigative Court of Astana authorized the arrest for two months of the former Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Kuandyk Bishimbayev. About it reports Kazinform with reference to the press service of the court.
The court sent Bishimbayev into custody on November 11. The press service did not specify details, noting that “other data is not subject to disclosure in accordance with Art. 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code.”
According to media reports, on November 9, the wife of ex-minister Bishimbayev died after being beaten in one of the restaurants in Astana. The next day at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic confirmed detention of a former official for the murder of a woman, Kazinform wrote. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Saken Sarsenov said that employees of the investigative committee are looking into the case.
On November 11, the Astana City Police Department announced an investigation into the murder of a woman, but Bishimbayev’s name was not mentioned. Law enforcement officials reported that a criminal case was initiated under Art. 99 part 1 “Murder”, and the suspect was placed in a temporary detention facility. The former Minister of National Affairs previously served a sentence for a previously committed corruption crime, Kazinform reported.
