The Coordination Center for .RU/.РФ domains is working to resolve a technical problem due to which Internet users cannot log into many sites in the Russian-language segment of the Internet. Director of the center Andrei Vorobyov spoke about this on Tuesday, January 30.
The expert did not go into detail and did not name the possible reasons for the technical failure, noting only that “we are working on a technical problem, I can’t talk now,” Fontanka reports.
As RIA Novosti notes, most complaints come from residents of Moscow and the region, as well as from St. Petersburg, the Sverdlovsk and Novosibirsk regions, and Tatarstan. Sites and services with a .ru domain address do not load. Many Russian mobile applications work intermittently.
Presumably, the failure in RuNet occurred due to problems with DNSSEC – a set of DNS protocol extensions that should guarantee the reliability and integrity of data. Thanks to it, in the RU domain zone, the possibility of IP address substitution as a result of attacks is guaranteed to be excluded, writes the Durov Code portal.
The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation has not yet given official comments in connection with this problem.
