The Communist Party refused to nominate a candidate for the election of the governor of Primorye

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation supported the decision not to nominate a candidate from the party in the election of the governor of Primorye, the majority of delegates voted for the boycott of the elections at the conference of the Primorye branch, transmits “Kommersant” with reference to the first secretary of the regional party committee Anatoly Dolgachev.

Dolgachev told the publication that the party did not consider it possible to participate in the elections, “because we were tied hand and foot.”

“Without control over the precinct commissions, we can easily draw the fourth or fifth place. It only discredits the party,” he said.

On June 10, the plenum of the regional committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation decided not to nominate its candidate for the September elections of the governor of Primorye in connection with the mass exclusion of representatives from the party from the precinct election commissions, the newspaper wrote. Prior to this, the Communist Party factions in the Legislative Assembly of Primorye held several pickets in protest against the non-admission of fellow party members to the composition of the formed PECs, communist deputy Natalya Kochugova told Vedomosti: “Vladivostok has been the center of protest voting for many years, the “red city”. Since 2011, we have been systematically increasing our presence in the city and regional parliaments, so why this situation is happening, I completely understand.”

On May 30, Kommersant reported that Primorye communists do not rule out refusing to participate in the gubernatorial elections (scheduled for September 10) due to the massive screening out of party members as a result of rating voting when forming new PECs. Kochugova told Vedomosti that the final decision on the elections would be made at the regional plenum of the Communist Party in mid-June.

In 2018, the candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Andrei Ishchenko entered the second round in the election of the governor of Primorye against United Russia Andrei Tarasenko, but the voting results were canceled. The communists no longer put up a candidate for the elections against the acting governor Oleg Kozhemyako.
