The Communist Party of the Russian Federation proposed making November 7 a holiday

It was proposed in the State Duma to return November 7 to the status of an official state holiday. Deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Anzhelika Glazkova today introduced a bill with corresponding amendments to the Labor Code to the lower house. At the same time, it is proposed to remove the status of a holiday on June 12.
The parliamentarian points out that the amendments are aimed at changing public holidays and non-working days in the Russian Federation and “bringing them in line with the opinion of the majority of the population.”
“Over the past years, the holiday of June 12 has not become the main public holiday of the country for the majority of Russians. According to a survey by the Public Opinion Foundation, only 33% of Russians consider Russia Day a holiday, for 50% it is just an additional day off,” notes Anzhelika Glazkova in the explanatory note to the bill.
The deputy also emphasized that 41% of Russians do not even know the name of the holiday that the country celebrates on June 12 (Russia Day – “MK”).
“At the same time, November 7 is the date of the beginning of the most successful period of development of our country,” the author of the amendments emphasizes and adds that “The Great October Socialist Revolution brought the people of our country an 8-hour working day, free secondary and higher education, and true equality for women , including parental leave, eliminating mass illiteracy as soon as possible, etc.”
Moreover, according to Glazkova, even in Ukraine, despite massive neo-Nazi propaganda, 32% of the population regrets the collapse of the USSR. The deputy believes that giving November 7 the status of an official holiday will also help strengthen ties with the Republic of Belarus, where this day is a public holiday.
