On Tuesday, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation held a rally in Moscow to mark the 106th anniversary of the October Revolution. In their speeches dedicated to the historical date, party members emphasized the present, emphasizing the significance of the special military operation in Ukraine and once again recalling their traditional socio-economic theses. According to experienced communists, of course, it is their party that should implement them. But the noisy “red” youth, as a Kommersant correspondent was convinced, seem to be beginning to doubt the leadership role of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

By the beginning of the celebrations, at least 1 thousand people had gathered in the park behind the monument to Karl Marx, according to Kommersant’s estimates. Supporters of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation were joined by sponsored organizations and left-wing extra-systemic forces. Armed with posters with time-tested slogans (“Under the Red Banner of October – to the victory of socialism!”, “Lenin is alive!”, “Workers of all countries, unite!”), ordinary party members – mostly middle-aged people – motivated their turnout with familiar theses about the bright Soviet past and about the fidelity of the course set by the party leadership more than a century ago.

Relatives of the military personnel who took part in the special operation tried to join the action with their own demands, but the uncoordinated picketing was interrupted by the police. However, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov promised the picketers to listen to their wishes at the end of the rally, having stumbled upon their proceedings with the police on the way to the podium.

“We are all very lucky that we have, have been and will always remain Lenin,” Mr. Zyuganov addressed his comrades. Having listed the state-forming merits of the leader of the world proletariat, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation recalled that war was declared on the “Russian world” by the “Anglo-Saxons, fascists and Nazis” and that “only communists and Komsomol members can defeat the enemy.” “Following the old course, it is impossible to defeat anyone, and now the time has come for big changes,” assured Gennady Zyuganov. “The President at the Valdai Forum said that capitalism has reached a dead end and we need to correct it.” New, necessary victories will come to Russia precisely along the path proposed by the communists, the politician summarized.

State Duma deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, speaking after their leader, emphasized the significance of the October Revolution in Russian and world history and expressed ardent devotion to the behests of their Soviet predecessors. “They say, including in the Duma, that we no longer need a revolution, but this (Oktyabrskaya.— “Kommersant”) the revolution preserved our state and contributed to its development,” said Viktor Sobolev. “The Great October Revolution is not just the main event of the twentieth century, it is the main event in the history of mankind,” Vladimir Isakov raised the bar. “An event that the greatest minds of humanity called a compass leading humanity into the future, towards communism,” Nina Ostanina added pathos.

The action ended with an impromptu procession to the Mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin, where participants brought bouquets and wreaths. Here the non-system activists actively showed themselves: the young representatives of the unregistered Revolutionary Workers Party (RWP) took the revolutionary step forward more noticeably than other comrades-in-arms. Dressed in themed costumes (Budenovki, leather trench coats, yuft boots), the Trotskyists, to the delight of the tourists who turned up and the obvious displeasure of the police, chanted “The Internationale” and chanted slogans (including very provocative ones) all the way to the Historical Museum. True, the demonstrators with banners did not reach Red Square: the police demanded that the banners be folded while approaching the metal detectors, and therefore the young revolutionaries decided to do without a visit to Ilyich.

“The point is not nostalgia, as is often the case with the older generation, but, on the contrary, to radically change the surrounding reality,” Semyon Kozyrev, leader of the RRP, explained to Kommersant the essence of the performance. According to him, the current policy of the authorities “does not meet the needs of young people,” especially in terms of living standards and the scale of social stratification. “Even entering a good university is not a guarantee of a normal standard of living in the future,” the politician was indignant, with the loud support of his comrades. Marxist theory is relevant, viable and capable of providing adequate answers to socio-economic challenges, activists assured.

However, the RRP has a special approach to interaction with the Communist Party, Comrade Kozyrev admitted: “We cooperate with the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and support them in the elections, but we conduct independent activities. Why? We do not believe in the ability of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation to take power – this is the central point.” He also complained that the leadership of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation “negotiates with the authorities,” although he admitted that most of the party members are sincere people with whom there is no shame in working: “We want to participate in the progressive campaigns of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, but at the same time be independent of the party leadership.” . According to the young leftists, work with labor collectives (trade union agenda) and educational activities will help them achieve their goals.
