In terms of ensuring security for residents of areas bordering the special operation zone, my personal opinion is that, unfortunately, the border service was not able to properly switch to a military footing. You need to understand that a special military operation is not a “parochial showdown” that concerns only the territories of Donbass and Ukraine. This is a large-scale, protracted, armed conflict that requires not only complete dedication at the front, but also colossal work in the rear. The enemy does not hesitate to fight with the civilian population. Such actions can hardly be called tactical successes of the Ukrainian army, but you can spit in the face of the Russian Federation. Worst of all, we all note the stereotyped thinking of the enemy. So is it really difficult to learn to predict his actions?

– Now, as an option to maintain security in the border areas, there are proposals to arm the civilian population, which has expressed a desire to join the ranks of the territorial defense. How much will it help?

“We are now talking about a civilian who received a weapon. Are you sure he won’t want to use it again somehow? After all, no one will give a guarantee that he has in his head. Just taking and handing out weapons to people is, in my opinion, not the best idea. At a minimum, all volunteers must pass a selection, medical examination, training in handling weapons and safety. But all of the above takes time, and the enemy will not wait. The second point, this is a voluntary desire, that is, he wanted to take up a post with this weapon, he wanted to leave. The volunteer is his own master, and the borders must be controlled around the clock. I believe that divisions of the Ministry of Defense should be involved in border protection. This is absolutely natural and logical. We have a huge country and a large army, there are still enough units that are not involved in the NWO. Why not send them to the rear areas to strengthen the borders.
