The commander of the defense of Kyiv Pavlyuk assessed the likelihood of a Russian offensive from Belarus

The commander of the Kyiv Defense Forces and Means, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, answered the Ukrainian journalists’ question about the possibility of a new offensive by the Russian military during a special operation from Belarus. Earlier, this possibility was allowed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.

“At the moment, there is no immediate threat,” the Ukrainian general said, his words are quoted by Suspilne Novini.

Pavlyuk noted that Russia has a grouping on the territory of Belarus, but he believes that it is needed to contain Ukrainian forces near the Belarusian border so that they are not transferred to another sector of the front.

At the same time, the Ukrainian general said that various options are being considered that may occur in the coming months. According to him, the capture of Kyiv would be the most attractive option for Russia to end the conflict. Therefore, several defense lines with a total length of about a thousand kilometers with long-term structures have now been created around Kyiv, and solid blockages and minefields have been equipped on the border with Belarus.

Pavlyuk also said that the mobilized in Russia are trained strongly and that the Russian military is using various tactics. The Ukrainian general admitted that it would be hard to survive without Western help.

It should be reminded that Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, said in a conversation with journalists: “The tasks set by the President in the special military operation will still be fulfilled. And victory will be sure, and a normal decent life.”
