The commander of the joint forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Sergei Naev, met with representatives of the Joint Command of NATO Armed Forces in Brunssum. The parties discussed deeper interaction, the press service of the joint forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Monday, November 13.
Naev said that the command of the joint forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was created as a result of the transformation of the Ukrainian army in accordance with NATO rules, principles and standards.
At the same time, the Ukrainian military assured that Kyiv plans to further deepen cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance.
Earlier, Western media wrote that the administration of US President Joe Biden hopes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will follow NATO standards, despite the fact that Kyiv’s membership in the alliance is not yet being considered. Consistent with American strategy, the United States seeks to maintain Ukraine’s orientation toward the West and continue to develop its “special ties” with Ukraine.
However, Ukrainian military personnel who were trained by NATO instructors were very unhappy with them. One of these fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces told the publication that NATO instructors training the Ukrainian military do not always know how to behave in an unforeseen situation.
