The Civil Initiative congress nominated Nadezhdin as a presidential candidate

The congress of the Civil Initiative party nominated the Moscow region deputy Boris Nadezhdin as a candidate for the presidential election. At the congress, Boris Nadezhdin also joined the Civil Initiative party. This is reported in Telegram channel parties.

Only one candidate was included on the ballot – Boris Nadezhdin. A total of 60 delegates voted. The voting was secret and closed. Boris Nadezhdin will submit an application to register his candidacy on December 25. To reduce the threshold of signatures for participation in elections from 300 thousand to 100 thousand, a presidential candidate must be nominated from an officially registered party.

Boris Nadezhdin is 60 years old. He graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Founded the Department of Law at MIPT and headed it until 2016. He was an assistant to then Prime Minister Sergei Kiriyenko.

Earlier today, the congress of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation nominated 75-year-old Nikolai Kharitonov as a candidate for the presidential post. The LPDR faction chose party leader Leonid Slutsky as its candidate. On December 18, current President Vladimir Putin submitted documents to participate in the elections to the Central Election Commission. Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov also plans to run (he was arrested in the case of public calls for extremism).

Voting in the presidential election will take place for the first time over three days, from March 15 to 17, 2024. According to the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, Russians “liked” this voting format.
