The city of Aleshki was almost completely flooded due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station

As a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region and the subsequent uncontrolled discharge of water, the city of Alyoshki was almost completely flooded. About it informed Chairman of the regional government Andrey Alekseenko in his Telegram channel.

“The most difficult situation is now in Aleshki. The city is almost completely flooded. And on the other hand, large forest fires after the shelling of the Nazis,” he wrote.

The evacuation of the inhabitants of Aleshki is possible only with special equipment, Alekseenko emphasized, noting also the observed problems with communication. All free Urals and KamAZ trucks are sent to evacuate people, rescue boats of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are being brought from Crimea.

In total, more than 100 buses were assembled for the evacuation of residents of coastal areas and 5,000 places were prepared at accommodation points.

Kakhovskaya HPP was shelled at about 2 am on June 6. The upper part of the hydroelectric power station was destroyed, due to which an uncontrolled discharge of water began. The administration of the Novokakhovka urban district said that the cause of the incident at the hydroelectric power station was shelling, which led to the destruction of three spans under water pressure. Presumably, the blow was delivered by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Alder MLRS (RS-2), they noted there.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu later said that Kyiv had committed a terrorist attack, undermining the hydroelectric power plant, that this would have severe and long-term consequences for the environment. According to the Ministry of Defense, Kyiv has significantly increased the discharge of water from the Dnepropetrovsk hydroelectric power station, which aggravates the situation with the flooding of the territories. Shoigu noted that this fact only proves the “large-scale sabotage” planned in advance by Kiev.

The Ukrainian side took such a step due to the lack of success in the counteroffensive, Shoigu noted. According to him, on the right bank of the Dnieper, the Ukrainian military began to build defensive positions, which indicates their plans to go on the defensive in this area. Kyiv carried out a diversion at the station in order to prevent the advance of the Russian army, he explained.
