Trade cooperation between Russia and China shows broad prospects, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. He recalled that trade turnover in 2023 exceeded a record $240 billion.

“Russian natural gas is supplied to thousands of households in China, and Chinese cars are driving on the streets of Russia, this fully demonstrates the strong sustainability and broad prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries,” Wang Yi said at a press conference on the sidelines of the 2nd session of the All-China meeting of people’s representatives of the 14th convocation (quote from TASS).

The minister called the development of relations between the countries a strategic choice that both sides made “based on the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two states.” “Bilateral mutual political trust” continues to deepen and “enthusiasm for people-to-people exchanges is growing,” he said.

Trade turnover between the Russian Federation and China at the end of 2022 increased by 29.3%, to $190 billion, in 2023 – by 26.3%, to $240.1 billion. In January–February 2024, the indicator increased by 9.3%, to $37.01 billion. The share of developed countries in Russian imports at the end of 2023 decreased from 47% to 17%, and China increased from 27% to 45%.
