The Central Election Commission of Russia (CEC) has postponed the meeting at which the issue of registering presidential candidates Boris Nadezhdin and Sergei Malinkovich will be decided to February 8. The meeting was originally scheduled for February 7.
“Showing goodwill and taking into account the requests of the remaining nominated but not registered candidates who submitted their signatures, members of the Central Election Commission today decided to postpone from February 7 to 8 the meeting of the Central Election Commission of Russia to consider issues of registration of all remaining nominated candidates for the post of President of Russia. The deadlines established by law allow us to do this,” the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Panfilova, was quoted as saying on the commission’s Telegram channel.
The message said that unregistered candidates were given full rights, including procedural ones. It is indicated that the Central Election Commission of Russia is meeting halfway Boris Nadezhdin and Sergei Malinkovich, who, according to the commission, have signature defects “quite significant – at the level of 14-15%.”
