The Central Election Commission found more than 15% of signatures for Nadezhdin were defective – Kommersant

The Central Election Commission identified 15.348% of defects in the signatures collected by politician Boris Nadezhdin, the politician’s authorized representative Igor Artemyev said in Telegram. The discovery of 5% of signatures that are unreliable is grounds for refusal to register a candidate.

“The commission meeting ended, the documents were taken away. 15.348% defective, 2 sleepless nights ahead,” noted Mr. Artemyev. According to him, the meeting of the Central Election Commission, at which a decision will be made on whether Boris Nadezhdin will be allowed to participate in the presidential elections, will take place on February 7, 2024.

Earlier, Mr. Nadezhdin, who is nominated from the Civil Initiative party, provided the Central Election Commission with 100 thousand voter signatures in support of his nomination. The same number of signatures was submitted to the CEC by the candidate from the Communists of Russia party, Sergei Malinkovich.

Previously, the CEC registered four presidential candidates: Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party), Vladislav Davankov (New People) and Vladimir Putin (self-nominated).

Andrei Bogdanov (Russian Freedom and Justice Party) refused to participate in the election race on January 31. Self-nominated Anatoly Batashev brought five boxes of signatures to the CEC, admitted that this was not enough, but left the decision to the commission. On January 30, the chairman of the Russian People’s Union party, Sergei Baburin, withdrew his candidacy. Irina Sviridova, nominated from the non-parliamentary Democratic Party of Russia, did not collect the required 100 thousand signatures. The self-nominated Rada of Russians submitted 476 signatures out of the required 100 thousand to the CEC.
