The Central Bank will test payment in digital rubles using a dynamic QR code in 2024

Next year, the Central Bank of Russia will test payment using the digital ruble using a dynamic QR code. This was stated by the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank, Olga Skorobogatova, on the sidelines of the Finopolis forum. A dynamic QR code is used when paying through the fast payment system.
“Banks expect to see more transactions between legal entities and payments not only using a static QR code, but also using a dynamic one. We have this in our plans for next year, we are strictly on schedule,” Olga Skorobogatova assured.
Ms. Skorobogatova also noted that in 2024 it is planned to expand the list of individuals participating in the digital ruble pilot from 600 people to several thousand and to multiply the number of legal entities.
The digital ruble is the third form of national currency used in Russia. The main provisions of the law establishing the legal norms for the introduction of the digital ruble in Russia came into force on August 1, 2023. In the same month, test use of the digital ruble began in real transactions for individuals and legal entities. Until 2025, operations with the digital ruble will be carried out in test mode.
