The case of the theft of Chubais’s property was transferred for a new trial to the Khamovnichesky court

The Moscow City Court returned the case of the theft of property from Anatoly Chubais, the former general director of Rosnano, for a new trial to the Khamovniki Court of Moscow. The main defendant in the case is Ilya Suchkov, a former business partner of Chubais. The lawyer of one of the accused confirmed this information to the TASS agency.
Earlier, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow changed the territorial jurisdiction of the case, sending it to the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow for consideration from the very beginning. However, the Moscow City Court reversed this decision and sent the criminal case back to the Khamovnichesky Court for further trial.
The defendants’ lawyers did not agree with the decision of the Moscow City Court and announced their intention to appeal it to the cassation instance.
The case of the theft of property from Anatoly Chubais was initiated in 2017 at his request. The Khamovnichesky court began considering the case in July last year. The amount of damage caused decreased from 3 billion to 70 million rubles. The main defendant in the case is Ilya Suchkov, and there are other defendants.
The investigators in this case were taken under state protection because of the threats they received. None of the defendants pleaded guilty.
