The Russian government supported the proposal to create a short number through which citizens could quickly report the appearance of suspicious drones in the sky. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this in response to a request from Vladislav Davankov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma from the “New People” faction, writes “RIA News”.
As noted in the department’s letter, changes will be made to the Russian government decree “On approval of the list of emergency operational services, the call of which must be provided by the telecom operator around the clock and free of charge to the user with communication services” “in terms of additional inclusion of services responding to overflights of unmanned aerial vehicles.”
According to Davankov, a person who notices a suspicious drone will be able to report it to 112, after which the operator will transmit the coordinates to the responsible services. Vice Speaker of the State Duma in August after another UAV attack on Moscow reported about his proposal to open a hotline for those who noticed a UAV in the sky. In addition, he pointed out the lack of “clear guidance on drone attacks.” Davankov also called for targeted warnings to people via SMS “along the identified trajectory of the drone.”
“It is important that people know in advance about the approach of drones and can take all necessary measures,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
In Russia, UAV crashes and attacks on regions are regularly reported. In particular, drones were recorded in Moscow and the region. On May 30, State Duma deputy Andrei Gurulev said that a law would be initiated in the near future to provide for criminal liability for filming drone flights. In August, it became known that members of the Federation Council had developed a bill that proposed to ban the dissemination in the media and the Internet of photos and videos of shelling sites, drone attacks and other military information.
