The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine fired six deputy defense ministers

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to dismiss six deputy ministers of defense and the ministry’s secretary of state, according to a government message on the Telegram channel.
Vladimir Gavrilov, Rostislav Zamlinsky, Anna Malyar and Denis Sharapov will leave their positions as deputy minister. Also dismissed were Andriy Shevchenko, who served as Deputy Minister of Defense for European Integration, and Vitaly Deinegi, who oversaw issues of digital development and transformation of the ministry. Secretary of State of the Ministry of Defense Konstantin Vashchenko will also leave his post.
At the beginning of September in Ukraine replaced Minister of Defense Alexey Reznikov, who headed the defense department since November 2021, resigned on September 4. On September 6, the Verkhovna Rada approved Rustem Umerov, who previously headed the state property fund, as Minister of Defense.
Introducing Umerov to the generals, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky noted that the Ministry of Defense needs to make changes, including bureaucratic procedures, in the interests of ordinary soldiers.
