The Government of the Russian Federation decided to increase the current quotas for the export of mineral fertilizers from the country by 300,000 tons, reported cabinet press office. This step provides for an increase in the quota for the export of ammonium nitrate, the government said.
“The current quotas for the export of mineral fertilizers from Russia will increase by 300,000 tons. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree to this effect. The adopted decision comes into force from the moment of its publication. It will be valid until May 31, 2023 and provides for an increase in the quota for the export of ammonium nitrate,” the message says.
As explained in the government, the decision will allow producers of mineral fertilizers to export “unclaimed residues of finished products, provided that the needs of the domestic market are fully met.”
The total volume of the export quota will exceed 12.6 million tons, the Cabinet added. The Ministry of Industry and Trade was instructed to distribute the volume among exporters. It is specified that quotas will not apply to the supply of fertilizers to South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
In November 2022 the government increased an export quota for producers of nitrogen fertilizers for 750,000 tons. The decision was valid until the end of last year. As noted in the Cabinet, such a step will enable Russian fertilizer producers to send additional volumes for export.
