The building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture was arrested in Finland

The Finnish authorities seized the land and building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC), as well as several apartments in Helsinki. About it reported newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, citing the debt collection office.
“The Finnish law enforcement agency froze the land and buildings of the Russian Scientific and Cultural Center in Helsinki. <...> The property is owned by the Russian Federation, and before that it belonged to the USSR,” the statement said.
It is specified that seven apartments were also frozen, five of which have already been arrested. According to the newspaper, the apartments and the RCSC belong to Rossotrudnichestvo. The agency is associated with the Russian Foreign Ministry, against which sanctions have been imposed. In total, over 1000 sq. m. Property valuation has not yet been carried out.
According to a local publication, the assets were frozen temporarily. During this period, Russia will not be able to dispose of property or pledge it. It is specified that the freezing of assets will last three weeks, during which law enforcement agencies will have to understand who owns the assets.
The RCSC was opened in Helsinki in 1977. After the collapse of the USSR, Russia began to dispose of the property of the center. The main goal of the center is to assist in the implementation of joint cultural, educational, humanitarian and scientific projects in Russia and Finland.
