The budget deficit in January-February amounted to 1.47 trillion rubles – Kommersant

The Russian federal budget deficit for the first two months of 2024, according to preliminary assessment Ministry of Finance, amounted to 1.47 trillion rubles, or 0.8% of GDP. The volume of budget revenues in January-February was 5 billion rubles, which is 58.8% more than the same period last year.

Oil and gas revenues for the specified period increased by 71.2%, to 1.6 billion rubles. Non-oil and gas revenues amounted to RUB 3.4 billion. (+53.5%).

“According to preliminary estimates, the volume of federal budget expenditures in January-February 2024 amounted to 6,499 billion rubles, which is 17.2% year-on-year higher than the previous year,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.

In January, the Ministry of Finance reported that the Russian budget deficit in 2023 amounted to 3.2 trillion rubles, or 1.9% of GDP. In 2022, it amounted to 3.3 trillion rubles, or 2.1% of GDP.
