The ships and aircraft of the Black Sea Fleet worked out the isolation of the Black Sea area temporarily closed for navigation during military exercises, reported press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense in his Telegram channel.
“Also, in the course of the joint exercise, the ships and fleet aviation worked out actions to isolate the area temporarily closed to navigation, and also carried out a set of measures to detain the offending ship,” the message says.
The crew of the missile boat “Ivanovets” fired at a target ship in the northwestern part of the Black Sea. The shooting was successful, the ship was destroyed as a result of a strike by anti-ship cruise missiles.
On July 17, Russia withdrew from the grain deal, which was signed on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey, the UN, Russia and Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov explained this by the failure to fulfill Russian conditions under the grain deal.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kyiv plans to continue the Black Sea initiative without Russia. After that, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that from July 20, all ships that go to Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea will be considered as “potential carriers of military cargo.”
Similar measures were announced by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from July 21. It follows from the statement that ships sailing in the Black Sea in the direction of Russian seaports “may be considered by Ukraine as carrying military cargo, with all the associated risks.”
