The bitter smoke of the fatherland // Russia risks being late for the triumph of decarbonization in Asia
[ad_1]
The accelerating energy transition process in Asian countries leaves Russia little chance of increasing hydrocarbon exports, follows from a joint report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the international consulting company BCG. The largest consumers of oil from the Russian Federation, India and China, following Europe, are now also deploying decarbonization programs. In Russia itself, which formally does not abandon the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, the pace of decarbonization is assessed as slow – while maintaining approaches to the climate issue, experts from the Russian Center for Energy Efficiency predict not only an increase in greenhouse gas emissions in the Russian Federation, but also noticeable economic losses.
