The estimated base cost of the Russian Baikal aircraft will be about 178 million rubles, said Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD) Yuri Trutnev. Previously, the airliner was valued at 120 million rubles.

Yesterday, October 5, Mr. Trutnev held a meeting “to sort out the cost” of the project. “Unfortunately, our price began to increase abruptly, which began to cause risks in the implementation of the aircraft construction program. We sorted this out, I asked VEB.RF to conduct an examination,” he said (quoted by TASS).

The results of the examination are planned to be presented in a week. Based on its results, the Ural Civil Aviation Plant plans to hold negotiations with the customer, the Far Eastern airline Aurora.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, it was decided that “there is no need to immediately release an aircraft that will have all the advantages that one can imagine.” “This must be a reliable, economical aircraft that will pay for itself, that will serve people and help improve accessibility to settlements in the Far East,” he added.

The light multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 “Baikal” is being created to replace the Soviet An-2. The airliner will have nine seats, its speed will be up to 300 km/h, and its maximum flight range will be 3 thousand km.

It was planned that Aurora could receive the first five Baikal aircraft in 2025. Baikal’s first flight took place in January using a General Electric H80-100 motor. Ministry of Industry and Trade saidthat the developer of the airliner plans to produce it only from Russian components.

About the production of “Baikals” – in the material “Kommersant FM” “Corn workers are sorting through components”.
