Russia resumed coal supplies to Mexico and Argentina

Russian coal companies continued to expand the geography of export supplies: in 2023, domestic coal began to arrive in Mexico, Argentina and Bangladesh. This follows from data from the analytical company Kpler, which Vedomosti reviewed. In January–September 2023, Russian companies exported 314,000 tons of coal to Mexico, 73,000 tons to Argentina, and 48,000 tons to Bangladesh. Kpler does not indicate the type of coal—thermal or coking.
Shipments of Russian coal – usually of much smaller volume – left Russia for these countries in 2019–2021. But last year there were no exports to these markets.
