The duration of the ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel depends on market saturation, said First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy Pavel Sorokin. According to him, the ban was introduced indefinitely.
According to the deputy minister, unscrupulous market participants exported quite a “substantial volume” of fuel. The Ministry of Energy expects that the introduced measure will even create a surplus of fuel.
“Now she (measure.— “Ъ”) was introduced indefinitely. We expect that the market will feel the effect quite quickly, but then it will depend on the saturation of the market and on the results,” he explained in an interview with Rossiya 24 (quoted by Interfax).
As he clarified, the Ministry of Energy hopes that the volume “that vertically integrated companies and bona fide participants send for export” will completely cover all needs, and will also create a surplus in the fuel market.
In mid-August, Russian farmers were faced with a sharp rise in prices for diesel fuel and interruptions in its supply. According to Rosstat, retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel increased by 9.4% from the beginning of the year to September 18. Yesterday, September 21, the government announced on the introduction of temporary restrictions on the export of motor gasoline and diesel fuel to stabilize the domestic market.
