Bangladesh has encountered difficulties in purchasing Russian fertilizers, the country’s Foreign Minister Abdulkalam Abdul Momen told RIA Novosti. According to him, the reason was sanctions.
“We buy fertilizers from Russia. But there is a difficulty because there are so many sanctions. We are trying to decide how to deal with this problem,” the minister said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Taufiq Chowdhury complained that the end of the grain deal was leading to higher prices for grains and fertilizers. Russia suspended participation in the deal on July 18 due to failure to comply with its terms. On the eve of Bloomberg reportedthat Egypt decided to buy wheat from France and Bulgaria after Russia’s attempt to set an unofficial price minimum, supplies of Russian grain were actually blocked.
