In June 2023, the average limit on credit cards issued in the Russian Federation reached a record level, increasing to 97 thousand rubles, according to the materials of the Scoring Bureau credit history bureau, which I read RBC.

During the first month of summer, financial organizations approved 2.15 million credit cards for Russians worth 210.6 billion rubles. This figure is also a record for the entire history of observations.

The bureau believes that the renewal of record figures for the issuance of credit cards and average limits on them is a consequence of the acceleration of inflation in Russia. “Consumer inflation is always present in the market. Together with it, the nominal incomes of the population are growing, from which debts on loans and cards are paid, ”explained Oleg Lagutkin, general director of the Scoring Bureau. In this regard, in his opinion, there is a possibility that the indicators will again update records in the near future.

At the same time, experts interviewed by RBC note that citizens do not always fully use credit card limits, so it is wrong to draw far-reaching conclusions about the state of the economy in the Russian Federation only on the basis of these indicators.

In March of this year, Frank RG reported that the “average check” on credit cards as of the beginning of spring was 52.6 thousand rubles. At the same time, for cash loans, this figure is 268.6 thousand rubles.
