The average length of a working day in the Russian Federation in 2023 reached a maximum in 19 years – Kommersant

The average working day in Russia in 2023 increased to 7.17 hours, which is four minutes more than in 2022. This is a record figure for the entire period of statistics (since 2005), reports RBC with reference to Rosstat data.

The publication reports that the average working time per year per employee increased year-on-year by 17.3 hours, to 1.77 thousand hours. The previous record for average working hours was recorded in 2019. Then the figure was 7.15 hours, and over the year – 1.76 thousand hours, RBC reports.

FinExpertiza based on Rosstat data countedthat in the first quarter of 2023, Russians worked on average 38 hours 30 minutes a week. This is a record figure since at least 2010, when Rosstat began collecting such quarterly statistics. Over the year, the length of the working week has increased by a quarter of an hour.

Last July, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov suggested, that a large shortage of engineering personnel in the regions could lead to an increase in the average working week. He said there are also shortages of employees in manufacturing enterprises.
