Mandatory evacuation was announced in the Ukrainian-controlled Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region, follows from the order of the military administration of the district.
The evacuation will be carried out in “close to the combat zone” territories, in particular, it was announced for residents of the left bank of the Oskol River in Kupyansk, in the village of Kovsharovka and the city of Kupyansk-Uzlovaya. In total, the document refers to 37 settlements.
On August 9, Andrey Kanashevich, Acting Head of the Military Administration of the Kupyansky District urged residents to evacuate. The head of the military administration of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Sinegubov, said that children from 53 settlements could be forcibly evacuated in the region. According to him, more than 11,000 people, including 600 children, are subject to evacuation.
The Russian Defense Ministry has been reporting a successful offensive in the Kupyansk direction for the past few months. On August 9, the department stated that six attacks and counterattacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repelled in the Novoselovsky districts in the LPR. As Vitaly Ganchev, the head of the military-civilian administration (CAA) of the region, stated, the movement of Russian forces “deep into enemy territory is quite active.”
