The authorities of North Macedonia declared a crisis in the field of energy supply

The Government of North Macedonia has announced the presence of a crisis situation with the supply of thermal energy in the capital of the Republic, the city of Skopje, as well as the existence of a crisis situation in the energy sector throughout the country, informs press service of the Macedonian national television and radio broadcasting (MRT).

“The decision on heat supply is connected with the lack of thermal energy, the possibility of using alternative fuels and the situation on the thermal energy market. The decision on energy supply was made due to the lack of electricity and the state of the electricity market,” the statement said.

The state of emergency in the country will come into force on September 1 and will last for 30 days. From the date of entry into force of the special regulation, the Commission for Monitoring the Situation in the Sphere of Electricity Supply and for Monitoring the Situation in the Field of Heat Supply will begin to constantly monitor, analyze and evaluate the situation in the heat energy market.

Previously, North Macedonia declared a crisis situation in the energy sector of the country in November 2021, wrote TASS. It was introduced “in order to optimize the work of energy companies, as well as to avoid the possible introduction of restrictive measures in the sector that could adversely affect the daily life of citizens.”
