“Ukrainian militants opened artillery fire on Energodar and its outskirts. As a result of the shelling, the power line in the area of the nuclear power plant was damaged, the city was temporarily de-energized. Information about the victims is being specified, ”Rogov said in a message published on his Telegram channel.
According to him, at least 7 arrivals were recorded in total. The capacity of the sixth power unit was reduced to 150 MW, the nuclear power plant is now working to meet its own needs.
During a special military operation in Ukraine, the Russian military took control of part of the Zaporozhye region, including Energodar, where the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, the ZNPP, is located. The IAEA mission arrived at the territory of the Zaporizhzhya NPP on September 1 due to regular shelling throughout August. Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of constant attacks on the facility. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that the ZNPP is not used for military purposes.
IAEA experts inspected the territory of the station, accompanied by representatives of the Russian “Rosatom” and employees of the station. Grossi left the station on the same day, leaving 8 experts and four escorts on it, said Alexander Volga, head of the military-civilian administration (CAA) of Energodar. It is expected that a report on the situation at the power plant will be published today, said the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi.
