There are no plans for the state to sell shares in the largest companies next year, a source close to the Cabinet of Ministers told Vedomosti, the information was confirmed by a high-ranking official. According to them, the public discussion about the need to privatize key assets, which was actively conducted this summer, did not move to a formal level: the government did not hold a single meeting where this topic appeared. “So far, privatization has remained at the level of talk,” stated a source close to the Cabinet of Ministers. The sale of large state-owned companies was not included in the budget plans for next year, he clarified.

Today, there are practically no assets where it would be possible to find a balance between the interests of business, the budget and the objective need to maintain state control, explained another interlocutor.
