The Armenian Parliament explained the exercises with the United States by deepening relations

The military exercises between Armenia and the United States are the result of deepening relations between the two countries, Chairman of the Republic Parliament’s Standing Committee on International Relations Sarkis Khandanyan told reporters.
“I understand that different parties may be concerned and express dissatisfaction, but this is a sovereign decision of Armenia… This is the result of the deepening of Armenian-American relations,” – leads his words News.am
The parliamentarian also did not agree that relations between Yerevan and Moscow can now be called tense. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan gave the same assessment in a conversation with journalists.
“It’s hard to interpret this as tension. There are working relations with Russia. And as always, as with all partners, there are disagreements, discussions are held. That doesn’t mean you can call it tension,” he said (quote according to Sputnik Armenia).
On September 6, the Armenian Ministry of Defense announced that the Armenian-American peacekeeping exercises Eagle Partner 2023 will be held on the territory of the republic in preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions. Earlier this year, Armenia refused to hold the CSTO Indestructible Brotherhood 2023 exercises planned on its territory. The military from Russia and other countries participating in the union were supposed to take part in them.
The Kremlin, commenting on the exercises between Armenia and the United States, expressed caution, promising to monitor the situation.
