The Armenian Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador

The Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin was summoned to the Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to offensive statements addressed to the Armenian authorities. About it reported press service of the department.

Yerevan’s claims arose over the release of a television program on October 23 on Channel One, during which allegedly “offensive and completely unacceptable statements” were voiced against high-ranking Armenian officials.

“During the meeting, the ambassador was given a corresponding note of protest,” the statement said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that located in constant contact with Pashinyan, the leaders of the countries are ready to visit each other after the normalization of the situation with the Armenians of Karabakh. According to the Russian leader, the services of the two countries, including the ministries of foreign affairs and economic blocs of governments, work in constant contact.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in turn, stated October 12 that Russia is recording NATO’s attempts to promote its interests in the Transcaucasus through Armenia. In his opinion, the intensification of anti-Russian sentiments in the republic is being done artificially. In particular, this is done through a large number of non-governmental organizations that have been created in Armenia in recent years.

On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures” to “restorate the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. On September 28, the president of the unrecognized republic, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the dissolution of all government institutions and organizations. As a result of the conflict, by October 1, 100,514 ethnic Armenians out of 120,000 nominally declared by the NKR authorities left the region, most of them settled in neighboring Armenia.
