The Ukrainian military in the Artemovsk area in the DPR uses smoke shells to reduce the effectiveness of mortars of the Russian Armed Forces. The commander of a unit of the 150th Guards Division of the South group of troops with the call sign Jeweler spoke about this.
According to the military man, the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot understand where the Russian units are stationed; their counter-battery warfare is not organized.
They “smoke” large areas in order to interfere with the work of the artillery of the Russian Armed Forces and prevent them from seeing precise aiming, the military man added.
The commander noted that smoke also sometimes flew into Russian positions, but the fighters immediately used gas masks.
