General Cavoli: NATO countries are not at war with Russia
On Monday, April 7, the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli, said that members of the military bloc do not consider themselves to be at war with Russia and do not seek to do so. He stressed that NATO’s goal is to deter a potential war, and therefore the alliance supports Ukraine. The American general made this statement at a conference dedicated to the anniversary of the founding of NATO.
At the same time, Cavoli emphasized that NATO strives to “contain wars and conflicts,” and therefore all countries of the alliance support Ukraine.
Russia has repeatedly expressed concern about the growing activity of NATO near its western borders. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that the expansion of NATO’s borders to the East poses a threat to Russia and Moscow will not remain indifferent to actions that could harm its interests.
