The Ambassador of Ukraine called on the United States to impose sanctions against all Russian private banks

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova appealed to the US Treasury with a request to impose sanctions against all Russian private banks, transmits Bloomberg agency.

“Sanctions are as important as weapons,” she said.

According to Markarova, the Ukrainian authorities want the US to add several banks to the list of financial institutions subject to sanctions every week. The ambassador said that “they are all involved in financing” the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin. At the same time, she noted that an exception could be made for a number of credit institutions.

The Ambassador of Ukraine also called on the US State Department to include Russia in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

Also in the United States, opinions about the need to recognize Russia as a “sponsor of terrorism” have been heard more than once. In July, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced that Congress intends to declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism if Secretary of State Anthony Blinken does not. Later, the US Senate adopted a resolution with the same appeal to the State Department.

On the eve of Latvia recognized Russia as a state that supports terrorism. Latvian parliamentarians believe that European countries should follow their example and make the same decision regarding Russia. In addition, Latvia called on the EU countries to immediately suspend the issuance of tourist and entry visas to citizens of Russia and Belarus. Latvia itself has already done it.
