Canada’s decision to transfer a confiscated Russian An-124 aircraft to Ukraine is a common theft, declared TASS Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov.
“This is completely illegal, this is theft, robbery. The Trudeau regime has shown that there is no rule of law in Canada,” said the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Canada.
Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the decision to transfer this aircraft to Ukraine during a visit to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by Reuters, without giving further details.
The Ruslan cargo plane, owned by Volga-Dnepr, flew into Toronto on February 27 last year, two hours before Canada decided to close the skies to Russian aviation as part of the sanctions imposed due to the special operation. However, local authorities decided to detain the board, and only the crew was able to return to Russia. According to the agency, the plane was transporting coronavirus tests from China by order of the Canadian government.
