The 16-year-old son of the head of Chechnya, Adam Kadyrov, will supervise the battalion of the Russian Ministry of Defense

The 16-year-old son of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, Adam became the “curator” of the Chechen battalion named after Sheikh Mansur, which will be part of the structure of the Russian Ministry of Defense, said the speaker of the Chechen parliament Magomed Daudov and State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov.

“Adam Kadyrov has been entrusted with an important direction: from now on he will oversee one of the most combat-ready units within the Russian Ministry of Defense – the Sheikh Mansur battalion. I am confident that the grandson of our First President, Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov will justify the trust placed in him at a high level and will do everything necessary to ensure that the battalion personnel are provided with everything necessary to carry out their assigned tasks efficiently,” Mr. Daudov wrote in his Telegram channel. According to him, Adam Kadyrov was also awarded the “star of the Sheikh Mansur battalion.”

Mr. Delimkhanov added that the new appointment was “a natural result of the significant merits of Adam Kadyrov.”

In October 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov announced on the creation of a battalion named after Sheikh Mansur in Chechnya, which will be part of the structure of the Russian Ministry of Defense and will take part in the military operation in Ukraine. State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov statedthat the formation was headed by the former deputy commander of the Sever battalion, Ruslan Geremeev, who was involved in the murder of politician Boris Nemtsov. Sheikh Mansur (1760–1794) – leader of the people’s liberation movement of the mountaineers of the North Caucasus in 1785–1791.

Adam Kadyrov received became widely known after the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, published a video on September 25 in which his son Adam beats 19-year-old Nikita Zhuravel, who is on trial in Chechnya for a video of the burning of the Koran. After the beating, Ramzan Kadyrov called his son “a hero of all Muslims.” On October 7, Adam Kadyrov was awarded the title of Hero of Chechnya. After this, Adam Kadyrov began to regularly reward a variety of medals, titles and orders: the Order “For Services to the Karachay-Cherkess Republic”, “For Services to the Ummah”, “For Services to the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic”, the second most important award in Tatarstan – the Order “Duslyk”. On November 5, it became known that a 15-year-old boy was appointed head of the security department of the head of Chechnya.
