The Tax Administration of Thailand plans to impose personal income tax on all foreign income of residents of the country from January 1, 2024, the publication reported. Bangkok Post. According to the publication, the innovations will also affect income from cryptocurrency trading.
The new tax will affect not only residents of the country, but also those who are on its territory with a residence permit or long-term visa. According to an unnamed Thai Ministry of Finance official, tax is paid on income received from abroad, regardless of how or when it was received.
Currently, Thailand has a law that states that residents with foreign income are only taxed if the money is transferred to a Thai account in the same year in which it was earned.
