French mercenary Maxim Bronshen, who fought for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, lost his left leg in battles in Ukraine. He complained to TF1 INFO that he was left without help from the French embassy in Kyiv.
The 32-year-old went to Ukraine as a volunteer. In the forest, he was blown up by a mine. Now he is being treated and rehabilitated in Strasbourg.
He pointed out that the embassy did not give him any support after he was badly injured. The Frenchman commented: “France sends Ukraine a lot of equipment and money, but does not help French citizens who really need help on the spot.”
Under French law, the man faces five years in prison for swindling, as well as a fine of 75,000 euros.
