Territorial defense detachments will be created in the Oryol region. The idea proposed by the residents was supported by Governor Andrei Klychkov, reported press service of the regional government.
“There is a proposal to get together and organize a civilian rear in order to prepare, go through the basics of medical and tactical training, and learn how to use weapons. I hope this will not come in handy for us, but we need to be definitely ready for this, ”Klychkov said at a meeting with the activists of the Uritsky district.
He noted that the Oryol region does not belong to the border regions, but the authorities “know what is happening” in the Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod and Voronezh regions. The press service specified that in the near future the governor will hold a meeting of the operational headquarters, at which he will give instructions on the creation of the landfill. After that, everyone will be able to take the course.
In December 2022, territorial defense units started form in the Belgorod region. How explained later the chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov, they have the status of voluntary formations of citizens, close to the status of people’s squads. According to him, the territorial defense detachments will solve tasks under the auspices of the RF Ministry of Defense.
According to the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin of October 19, 2022, in the regions of the Central and Southern Federal Districts, including the Orel Region, a high alert mode is in effect. In particular, such a regime implies strengthening the protection of public order and ensuring public safety.
