Telegram is considering a request from the Ukrainian authorities to block 26 channels

The head of the Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech, Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, announced an appeal to Telegram with a request to block at least 26 channels.

At the same time, as he noted in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine agency, “previously Telegram generally ignored requests from the Ukrainian authorities.” Now the request, according to Yurchishin, is under consideration.

According to him, we are talking about such Telegram channels as “Legitimny”, “Resident”, etc.

In Ukraine, the issue of Telegram’s potential threat to the country’s national security has recently been actively discussed. Thus, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov (included in the Russian Federation’s list of terrorists and extremists), recently spoke about the “destructive effect” of the messenger from the point of view of national security.
