Ukrainian armed forces have intensified shelling of the city of Alyoshka in the Kherson region, TASS reports citing the head of the Alyoshka military-civil administration Georgy Zhuravko.

As noted, cluster munitions are increasingly being used in shelling.

At the same time, Zhuravko said, even in such conditions, normal life continues in the city. In particular, shops and a pharmacy are open, there is a market, and garbage is collected.

Ukraine received cluster munitions from the United States as part of another military supply package. Such ammunition is prohibited by an international convention that has been ratified by 123 countries, but the United States and Ukraine are not among them.

The US decision to transfer cluster munitions to Kyiv was condemned by at least 38 human rights organizations. The American publication The Hill also notes that 18 NATO countries have joined the ban on the use of cluster munitions, as they believe that their action is too indiscriminate. The UN Secretary General and representatives of the US Republican and Democratic parties also spoke out against the supply of these ammunition to Kyiv.
