TASS, Interfax and Moldavskie Vedomosti were blocked in Moldova

The Security Service of Moldova (SIS) blocked more than 30 media outlets, reported press service of the department.
The Russian websites TASS, Interfax, Komsomolskaya Pravda, Izvestia, Lenta.ru, and Radio Sputnik were subject to restrictions. Among the Moldovan media are “Moldavskie Vedomosti”, Publika TV, RTR Moldova, etc.
The agency explained the ban on the sites by sanctions of the European Union, Great Britain, USA, Canada, Norway and other Western countries. The order was signed by the director of the service, Alexandru Musteata.
On April 20, the SIS ordered the blocking of the websites of the Russian publications PolitNavigator and News Front. Prior to this, the department decided to block the websites of the Sputnik agency due to the spread of “false information.” The blocking order was given by the director of the service. The list included five news agency portals.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, a number of countries decided to block the broadcasting of Russian media on their territory. In March, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LKRTV) announced on the obligation of Internet providers to limit access to the IP addresses of the TV channels Rossiya 1, NTV and Channel One.
As part of the sixth package of sanctions, introduced in June 2022, the EU limited the broadcasting of the TV channels Rossiya-24, RTR-Planeta, and TV-Center. In December, the ninth package in European countries took away broadcasting licenses from NTV, Rossiya 1, REN TV and Channel One.
