In the special operation zone, a new electronic warfare complex (EW) with various types of drones “Sapphire” was tested. About it informed TASS, citing a source in the military-industrial complex.
“The Sapphire complex was tested in the special operation zone, used to cover the units that were erecting engineering structures from drone raids. The complex proved to be very good, without it the guys did not go to perform tasks, ”said the agency’s interlocutor.
“Sapphire” is designed to protect objects from drones. During operation, the electronic warfare system detects the target, determines whether it is hostile, and classifies the drone depending on the degree of its danger to the protected object. After that, “Sapphire” gives an alarm and begins to suppress the drone.
According to TASS, the complex can detect drones at a distance of up to 30 km and begin to influence them – up to 5 km. In addition, the Sapphire can suppress drone ground control stations.
