Ministry of Transport reported, that the tariff for heavy trucks for travel on the Platon federal highways will be indexed by 21 kopecks from February 1, 2024. The fee will be 3.05 rubles. for 1 km.
The Ministry of Transport associated the indexation with the fact that it is heavy vehicles that have the greatest impact on the road surface, which is financed from funds from the Platon system. The ministry said in a statement that “the impact of indexation on the final cost of transported goods is extremely insignificant.”
“Platon” is a system of fees for heavy trucks for traveling on roads. According to the Ministry of Transport, more than 820 thousand freight carriers and over 1.8 million heavy vehicles are currently registered in the system. Through Platon, funds go to the Federal Road Fund, and are then directed to the repair and overhaul of federal highways. At the end of 2023, the system received 49 billion rubles, which helped repair about 1,100 km of roads in various regions of the Russian Federation.
