Taiwan has expanded restrictions on the export of goods to Russia and Belarus

The Taiwan Ministry of Economy (MOEA) has expanded restrictions on the export of high-tech goods to Russia and Belarus, should from a statement posted on the agency’s website.
The statement said the new restrictions should “prevent Taiwanese high-tech products from being used for military purposes.” The new export control list includes 52 items, including chemicals such as ricin, conotoxins, botulinum toxin, ammonium nitrate, tributyl phosphate, nitric acid, etc.
In addition to this, the restrictions affected machine tools with numerical control, electric discharge machines and controllers, as well as special equipment – batons, handcuffs, straitjackets.
“The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade urges exporters to comply with export control rules and conduct due diligence before making transactions with Russia and Belarus,” the report says.
In June, the ban on exports to Russia and Belarus included chips with a clock frequency of more than 25 MHz. Devices whose performance exceeds 5 gigaflops are also prohibited from export.
In addition, sanctions were imposed on Russian chip manufacturers – Baikal Electronics, MCST (the developer of Elbrus processors), NM-tech (working on the basis of the Angstrem-T plant) and STC Modul fell under the restrictions. Also, electronics manufacturers Baikal Electronics and Crocus Nanoelectronics are on the sanctions list of Japan.
Taiwan’s TSMC (one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in the world) on February 25 warned Russian microelectronics developers that the US is demanding that the company stop cooperating with contractors from Russia.
