Taiwan discovered 9 Chinese combat aircraft near its borders

Taiwanese authorities announced the discovery of 9 combat aircraft of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) near the island, RIA Novosti reports citing the Taiwanese defense department.
It is noted that Chinese planes entered the Taiwan air defense identification zone. Among them are model airplanes. Su-30, J-10, KJ-500, Y-8, Y-9 and others.
The situation around Taiwan worsened significantly last summer in connection with the visit of then-Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to the island. Beijing condemned the visit, accused the United States of provocations, conducted major maneuvers near the island and curtailed contacts at the military level. The United States and China agreed to resume contacts between defense departments only in November at a meeting of leaders at the APEC summit in the United States.
