Szijjarto was indignant at the lack of a serious investigation into the undermining of the Nord Stream

The lack of a serious investigation into the sabotage at Nord Stream is outrageous. Such a statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
“The terrorist attack on Europe’s critical infrastructure causes outrage when we talk about Nord Stream. And so far there has not been a serious investigation, which also causes outrage,” he said (quote according to TASS).
June 14, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declaredthat Russia was never allowed to investigate the incident at Nord Stream. He noted that what happened on the pipelines “could have been carried out only by the special services of the state.” Commenting on media reports about Ukraine’s possible involvement in the attack, Peskov did not rule out that “this information is thrown in on purpose to divert attention from the true customers” of the terrorist attack.
On the same day, Swedish prosecutor Mats Jungqvist informedthat the investigation into the sabotage at Nord Stream is nearing completion. According to him, Sweden hopes to name those responsible for the incident and press charges as early as this autumn.
Explosions at Nord Stream occurred on the night of September 26, 2022. Pressure dropped in both pipelines. Two subsequently discovered leaks were in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of Sweden, and two more were in the Danish EEZ. Initially, Germany, Sweden and Denmark agreed to conduct a joint investigation, but this idea was later abandoned.
Moscow has repeatedly pointed out that the Russian side is not allowed to investigate. Peskov has previously stressed that Moscow is demanding an international investigation into the attack.
On February 8, American journalist Seymour Hersh published his investigation into the incident on the gas pipelines, in which he called the United States and Norway involved in the undermining. The White House and the European Commission called this information unreliable.
